Thank you Peter Tork and James Lee Stanley from the Lewisville Area Arts Council, Inc.,!

The 1997 Lewisville Lawn Party (aka Torkfest or the Stanley Steamer) was one of those events that make you remember why you plan festivals in the first place. The staff of the Lewisville Area Arts Council, Inc.,(LAAC) would like to say thanks to all of you who traveled so far to be with us in Lewisville, North Carolina for the festival. For those of you who didn't make the trip- you missed something really special..unique. The weather was warm, as were the people. The crowd who witnessed the truly wonderful concert put on by Mr. Peter Tork and Mr. James Lee Stanley realized just how special the day was. All of the comments that were made about the concert expressed a general opinion that these two men were extremely talented, very real and had time to actually meet and greet their audience. There were smiling faces everywhere, including those of our featured guests who seemed to be having a wonderful time. There are some wonderful photos which we are now sharing with our on-line audience, a lot of great video and some wonderful memories. After the festival was over and our guests left on Sunday-it began to rain. It rained for the next week! We called it the " after Tork and Stanley blues" (and greens.)

Please visit the commerative All (We) Ever Wanted Page. The title of this wonderful song seemed a fitting description. We hope Mr. Stanley will not mind our use of his art. We hope you will enjoy the photos and a few "words" from the festival. We are also making the remaining advertising posters and T-shirts from the 1997 festival available to fans. The posters measure 14"x17" and are black and teal with a photo of Peter and James and the rest of the bands that performed during the day. The T-shirts are purple and have the Lawn Party lawn chair and the names of the bands participating on them. There are a very few XL's left and some Large sizes. If you want any of these obscure items check this link ON-Line Festival Merchandise and Souvenirs Your purchase of these items will help us pay off the bills for this years festival and be able to move on to 2001!

We are taking a survey!!

What entertainers would you like to see headline the Lawn Party in '98 and who would you like to see as opening acts?

Fill out our survey and help the LAAC by giving us your opinions on the 1997 festival! You can also help us plan the first Lawn Party to be held in the new Shallowford Square!

The Shallowford Square (new town square) is near completion, having been dedicated on Sunday, November 9, 1997. A performance gazebo with terraced seating for approximately 2,500 people and plenty of standing/lawn chair area is part of the design!

The LAAC is currently seeking sponsors for the festival and suggestions! Help us plan the festival you would like to see/hear! Thanks!
